Hannah and Brent had their rural wedding on the Canterbury Plains. An area of very flat farmland stretching out between the Southern Alps to the West and the Pacific to the East. An area renowned for its big skies.
So much sky.
For a mostly mountain photographer like me, it’s an unusual place to be. Sooo much sky.
But with all that sky you get something you rarely see in the mountains, a true sunset, and with it the most incredible light.
Hannah and Brent’s homespun wedding was brilliant. The Memorial Hall, the spit roasts in repurposed pipes, people falling in the creek, the tractors blazing by, bridesmaids mooing to calves, mad as dancing, Ruby the dog having probably the happiest day of her life, oh and the light.
Enough words already.
Here’s a little of what Vicky and I saw unfold…
