Queenstown Wedding Photographer

Hello, we are Jim and Vicky Pollard, a husband and wife team based on the Banks Peninsula, Canterbury, New Zealand.

It's not just the pretty pics we offer you...

It’s our decades of experience of working with people across the globe. It’s our well honed eye for observation and detail. Our ability to quickly build rapport and put people to ease.

It’s the fact we can think on our feet and get on and deal with any situation with a smile and with confidence. That we believe it's important we do all the editing of your images ourselves.

It’s our established style, our customer service, our award winning reputation both across New Zealand and the world. Our intimate and invaluable knowledge of landscapes, light and weather systems.

We offer you our experience of capturing hundreds of incredible weddings for incredible people, like yourselves.

“Jim, your ability to capture not only amazing images but the real feel and emotion of the day is second to none. Your creative genius not only helped make the day itself but has really let us relive each moment.

These pics have already ensured that there’s been almost as many smiles and laughs as there was at the time.

Love your work mate.”

Frequently Asked Questions (In no particular order)

How do we get our images and how many do we get?

All of your edited images are delivered via a beautiful online private and permanent gallery. From there you can download, order prints and albums, create a collection and share with friends. We don’t promise any set number of images, as we don’t believe quantity necessarily means quality. However, as a rough guide we usually give about 700+ for the full day package.

Can we do our portrait photos before the ceremony?

Ideally we try to guide our couples to do them afterwards. The light is always better, so you look better and you’ll be more relaxed. Your dress, make up and hair will look perfect for your ceremony, not always so after being on mountains adventuring with Jim! It’s also your opportunity to escape, to be away alone as a married couple for the first time somewhere beautiful.

Can you make the portrait shoot short?

Yes and no, we really urge our couples to treat heading off for photos as an enjoyable and relaxing part of the wedding day. To avoid feeling rushed we recommend at least 30 minutes.

We are also always happy to help you plan your day to get the best for your photography and wedding day experience.

Do you have a second shooter or assistant?

Typically Jim covers most weddings by himself. He's a bit of a Ninja and gets all angles without being obtrusive and in the way. But should you want more coverage, we do offer Vicky as a 2nd shooter option, she is also an awesome and experienced photographer,

Do you spend all night shooting us on the dance floor?

No, well a little! Once Jim feels like he’s got a really good representation of the awesomeness going on, he’ll leave you all in peace. We know it’s not ideal having a camera in your face when you’re trying to let your hair down and get on it.

Can we go to that place where everyone gets their photos done?

We try to ensure that each wedding portrait shoot is unique to each couple. It makes it much more special for you and gets Jim's creative juices flowing.
Jim thrives on scouting to find you the location that fits perfectly, both from a time perspective and for the aesthetics. We firmly believe you work hard to create an individual wedding and that’s how we feel about your wedding photos too.

What happens if the weather throws a wobbly (goes crazy)?

It’s not a worry! That’s why you hired a team with a love for scouting locations and thinking on their feet. You’ll get beautiful shots regardless of the weather. In fact, often our best work happens when its ‘atmospheric’. It all comes down to being positive and being prepared to make the most of any weather!

When do we get our photos?

About 6/8 weeks after your wedding day (if not before), you’ll get a link first to your slideshow and then soon after to your personal gallery to view and download your images. Also we aim to get at least one image to you a few days after your big day.

Will Jim travel for our wedding?

Absolutely!!! We are based in Canterbury, but Jim loves to travel domestically and internationally, we’ve shot weddings all over NZ, Asia, USA, Australia and Europe.

Can you help us with local suppliers and venues?

Of course! We’ve built up a great network of people and companies all around the world who are amazing.

Do we have to feed you?

Yes please, as we will start to wither slightly if you don’t!

Will you pose us?

Jim wants to capture you interacting with each other naturally. Now we know that’s not easy with a camera in your face! So Jim will certainly help guide you and your wedding party, but at the end of the day it’s all about you guys being yourselves.

Sounds brilliant! How can we book you?

To confirm we require a 30% booking fee, and a signed copy of our Contract. The remainder is to be paid 30 days prior to the wedding day.
